East Quogue

East Quogue is perfect for those who like the best of both worlds in the Hamptons – a bustling Main Street with a rich history and the serenity of the beach. Settled in 1673 as Fourth Neck by farmers and fishermen, the name changed in 1858 to Atlanticville and the population grew thanks to the Long Island Railroad. The area would change names one last time becoming East Quogue in 1891. The quiet area of the Hamptons retains much of its historic charm with many homes over 100+ years dotting the landscape.

Like most of its East End neighbors, East Quogue enjoyed a bit of notoriety in the 1920’s with rum runners. The stately Ambassador Inn, what is now the very elegant Stone Creek Inn restaurant, was a popular speakeasy. These days Docker’s is where those looking for a great time can be found enjoying the nightlife as well as spectacular sunsets over the bays.

Today the hamlet of East Quogue is where residents and summer visitors alike enjoy the summer concert series, delightful shopping, and restaurants serving a little of whatever you fancy. Some call East Quogue the best kept secret in the Hamptons and we agree.

When considering homes for sale in the Hamptons, Town & Country Real Estate has a property to show you in East Quogue that fits your interests and Hamptons lifestyle, whether it be a vacation home, summer rental, or investment property.
