Cutchogue

The North Fork hamlet of Cutchogue, called ‘the New Nantucket’ because of its quaint Village Green and shingled historic homes, is one of the sunniest places in New York.

Vineyard enthusiasts agree that Cutchogue’s farmland is like the Bordeaux region of France. Further, the geography and climate accounts for the many award-winning wines produced by the vineyards and wineries in the area. Beyond wine, nature lovers enjoy Fort Corchaug and Downs Preserve – a beautiful ancient and undisturbed estuary ecology. This historic nature preserve is maintained by the Peconic Land Trust. The Old House, built around 1699 and a National Historic Landmark, is the oldest English-style house in the hamlet. The Old House is noted as one of the best surviving examples of English domestic architecture in the United States. Finally, just off the Village Green, the Cutchogue New Suffolk Free Library hosts events year-round for children and adults.

Prestigious Nassau Point is where Albert Einstein once lived and learned to sail. This charming peninsula in the Peconic Bay is known for fabulous beachfront estates. There is a high bluff on the east side and rolling hillside and charming creeks on the west. Known for privacy and resident-access only beaches Nassau Point’s Fisherman’s beach is among the North Fork’s most picturesque beach house communities.
