Bethany Selmear, a fourth generation Hamptons resident from Sag Harbor, has real estate history in her very DNA. When it comes to real estate she says, "historical homes really speak to me." Of note the Whaling Museum with its connection to the community was just two doors down from where her father grew up as a child. Her grandfather was the town doctor who brought his family up on Main Street. New to real estate Bethany is looking to help the Main Streets in the Hamptons retain their charm and historical prominence.
"I grew up on the water in Noyac and I love the beauty of the Hamptons," says the University of Connecticut grad, who also received her Masters in School Counseling from C.W. Post. "My father is a fisherman and I still get up in the morning when he is on the docks. I'm his deckhand you could say and I love it here in the Hamptons." A Division I athlete, she's not afraid of a challenge, in fact she welcomes them. The East Hampton Rental Registry was one area that tested her customer service chops, honed for years in retail where customer service is key to success, she worked with clients to ensure they were ready and able to rent and list this summer.
"The ever changing idea of the Hamptons is new. The people are changing. The homes are larger. Overall there is a financial change to our land," says Bethany of the challenges facing Hamptons real estate agents today. "Understanding how to connect the right people to the right homes in Sag Harbor and East Hampton is what I love."
Bethany waded into real estate to stay close to her community, one that she's seen grow and change dramatically over the years. After establishing herself with Town & Country real Estate and gaining the trust of clients to secure exclusive Hamptons real estate listings she's no longer wading into the market, she's sailing ahead full steam. She gives back to her alma mater, Pierson High School, by coaching the Varsity field hockey team and mentoring student athletes between open houses.
